Supporting Communities and Causes
51社区demonstrates our responsibility as a strong corporate citizen by investing in the communities where we live and work. Our roots have spread far beyond the small, rural town where we were established, but our pride in the places we call home remains as strong today as it was in 1959. In addition to building projects to improve lives, 51社区is committed to building strong communities in other ways. We actively give back to local communities, regions and national causes by providing financial contributions, donations and volunteer support.
Community Involvement
51社区Canada is committed to fostering positive relationships with the communities in which we work. We are visitors the local community for a short time a lasting impression. We communicate community news, events and opportunities to get involved to all employees during project orientations, so they may participate and become part of the community during their stay.We have a strong record of positive interaction with local groups in the communities where we work. We support causes within the community by donating services or value to the cause. We also support local businesses by subcontracting to engaged local businesses and Indigenous groups for of work.
Initiatives
Supporting Continued Education
51社区Canada Scholarship Fund provides financial support for 51社区employees and their dependents* who are full-time or part-time students at accredited post-secondary institutions. Students at all academic levels – including first-year students, undergraduates, and graduates – with all majors and career goals are encouraged to apply.
Pink Shirt Day
Pink Shirt Day falls on the last Wednesday of February every year to raise awareness about bullying in our schools, homes, workplaces and online. 51社区Canada participates in Pink Shirt Day to raise awareness of these issues and raise funds to support programs that foster children鈥檚 healthy self-esteem.
Breast Cancer Awareness
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. 51社区Canada fundraises and supports the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Movember
Movember is an annual event that encourages moustache growing during November to raise awareness of men鈥檚 health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men鈥檚 mental health. 51社区Canada fundraises and supports the Movember Foundation.

MI-Promises
Our award-winning MI-Promises campaign was born from a straightforward idea of asking all of our people to make a promise to their loved ones to not perform or stop any work that is or appears to be unsafe and to keep themselves and others out of harm鈥檚 way.
